September 4th

September 4th, 2018
I got this chair for free the day after Banks' graveside. It used to be an old SLCC library chair. I loved the main structure of it, but it was a terrible pink tweed color and had padded arm rests as well as a higher back. I'd been slowly working on this thing over the last few weeks. Taking it completely apart, removing the arm rests, using my jigsaw to cut about 6 inches off the back and then restructuring the frame. I ended it by sanding it all down, giving it a fresh coat of polyurethane and sewing new material for the cushions. I love it so much! It was my first reupholstery project and it turned out pretty good! Next time I'll pick a thicker fabric and pull it more tight when stapling, but other than that, it's golden!
