Today was
the first day of my Capital Reef Adventure! Danny dropped me off this morning
around eight and soon after the cars were loaded and we were on our way down to
the field station! We got in around 2 and unloaded/settled in. Super nice! Plus
it’s self sufficient too! Solar panel power and we purify our own water from
the creek. We are waaaay off the grid out here! No reception/internet. Plus, at
night we have to keep all blinds shut to avoid light pollution. Crazy. Once we
were settled in we went on a little hike to see some unpublished to the people
pictographs! Plus graffiti from the 1920’s. [I’m not allowed to say the
location!] After that we cooled off inside for a while since it’s like a giant
oven out here! We ate dinner and went to take some sunset long exposure shots
of the creek and then it was off to bed! Day one: Success!
